The MLP Crisis: The core of the crisis lies in Multi-Layered Plastic (MLP) wrappers—the shiny, multi-material packaging used for chips, biscuits, and snacks. Because MLPs fuse plastic with metal foil or two different plastics, they are functionally impossible for traditional recyclers to process. They are universally rejected, left to sit, and pile up by the billions in open dumps.
